A Message from the AMLRC President, Kevin German -
Hello members, I want to take a moment to address the previous election and the
process that took place. As you know we had an unusual situation which resulted in the AMLRC
having to run the election twice.
With all of the publicity these days of animal control and other unwanted visitors
showing up at individual farms and residences, the Election Chairperson of the first election
asked that we allow him to use a P.O. Box to receive the ballots rather than his home address.
Understanding his concerns we gladly allowed him to do this. In addition, the AMLRC Board
also felt it prudent to address the return ballots to the ‘Election Chairperson’ as opposed to
using the individual’s name.
Once the P.O. Box was acquired, ballots and envelopes were printed and sent out to the
AMLRC members. As the open voting timeframe was coming to a close, we were made aware
that because the ballot return envelop was addressed to ‘Election Chairperson’ and included his
P.O. Box, as opposed to his name and physical address, we were in violation of our CB&L's.
Because of this, an AMLRC member had filed a complaint with the ARBA. Although this was just
a technicality, our AMLRC Board wanted to eliminate any possible issues and began the process
of running a new election. To avoid any further accusations of wrong-doing, the AMLRC Board
decided to secure a law firm to be the Election Chairperson, and they would also certify the
election results. The attorneys involved agreed to become members of the club and thus were
then able to receive and certify our election for us. Our ballots were then printed and sent out
to the members once again. The second set of election results were received, certified and
published by the law firm to the AMLRC.
The first set of election ballots were declared null and void. The results from the first
ballots were sealed, put aside, and never published. If there are any claims to the knowledge of
those results, they are completely false in nature. If there is any question or confusion about
this process, why it occurred or how it was resolved, please contact me directly and I will be
happy to discuss this with you. Otherwise, I hope this addresses any misinformation that may
be circulating about this process.
Kevin German, President AMLRC
Open Secretary Position for the AMLRC
The position of Secretary of the American Mini Lop Rabbit Club is open for application. If
you are interested, and meet the qualifications of the position as listed in the AMLRC CBL, you
are welcome to apply.
In September, our most recently appointed Secretary, Wendy Brabender, was seriously
injured in an automobile accident. Due to injuries suffered in the accident, Wendy was unable
to continue performing the duties of the office of Secretary of the AMLRC. Per the club’s CBL,
as Wendy could not perform the duties of her office, it was necessary for her to resign her
position. Donna Mallory has stepped in as the Interim Secretary for the AMLRC. Due to this
situation, the AMLRC must re-petition for this office.
The AMLRC is now accepting applications for the position of Secretary. Please refer to the
following section of the AMLRC CBL for the process of application for this position:
Section 1: Any member who desires to become a candidate for office must be in good
standing and must fill out a nomination petition. This petition is published in the winter
issue of The Mini Lop GAZETTE and/or may be obtained from the Secretary. The petition
must be signed by a minimum of three (3) members of the AMLRC in good standing.
Completed petitions must be returned to the Secretary and must be postmarked no
later than May 1st. EXCEPTION: Petitions for Secretary and Treasurer must be returned
to the President and must be postmarked by any date determined by the Executive
Board in order to keep these offices filled.
Please note this is an appointed position. The completed petition, along with any
qualifications the applicant might want to submit, must be postmarked by January 31, 2014 and
returned to AMLRC President, Kevin German*. President German will then review all
applications, make a selection, and then present his selection to the AMLRC Board for their
vote. The Board vote will take place in early March, 2014. A copy of the petition is included in
the Fall 2013 Gazette, or available from the Interim Secretary.
The AMLRC would like to thank Wendy for her committed work as the Secretary of the
AMLRC. The Club would certainly not be where it is today without her hard work and
dedication over the last 3 years.
On behalf of the AMLRC Board, and the AMLRC membership, we wish Wendy a speedy and
full recovery, and we look forward to seeing her back at the shows very soon.
