Letter from your President ~ Kevin German
To all AMLRC members, as President of the AMLRC I would ask that if you have any questions regarding our club and any decisions that have been made between the club and ARBA, to contact me directly. email@example.com or (608)516-0842
Having been to shows and reading random statements in the public forum there appears to be a lot of misinformation out there regarding the AMLRC. And though sometimes interesting to read, hate filled rants are not always factual.
On the face of it AMLRC is pretty much a rearranging of letters of the MLRCA. At the end of the day the letters are the same. The members are the same, and the shows and the Mini Lops and the friends that you have made along the way, are the same. What some seem to forget is that the MLRCA was our club too. Many of us were long term members of the old club when our charter was lost. And not wanting the breed to fold, those long term members from the old club developed a new club, the AMLRC. Now the AMLRC has the opportunity to move the breed forward, past the charter troubles of 2011 and to put their efforts into building a stronger club while incorporating some of the core principles from the Mini Lop founding members such as Herb Dyke and Bob Herschbach. When those two gentlemen started the National Mini Lop Club in 1981, they were 500 members strong. The AMLRC to date has 379 members. Our membership is not a race to see which club has the most members, but instead it is filled by people who love the Mini Lop as a breed. These are people who are willing to learn, to breed, to show and meet friends and to enjoy the Mini Lop rabbit.
We have a new Board of Directors that is set to term limits and is working hard to build a club that is exclusively membership driven. Record keeping is a must and this includes full an complete treasurer report. Our treasurer has provided a skill set for book keeping that has been exemplary. No late charters, no late fees on credit cards and timely deposits. All monies are declared and the books have been audited as required by our C & BL. No club money has gone missing.
Compensation for volunteers as identified in the C & BL has never been exceeded as it was with the former club. There has been no manipulation of any compensation or monies paid towards extras that should not be reimbursed within the AMLRC. The members money is safe and secure and spent with full transparency.
We have a top notch sweepstakes system and chairperson, with up to date point calculations. All show sanctions are answered promptly and the price for your points are included in your membership fee. There are no added extra costs to receive your sweepstakes points.
AMLRC members spoke in the last election about changes to the C B&L and the changes that were passed were incorporated into our Constitution promptly.
AMLRC has never received funds of any kind from the MLRCA. We as MLRCA members were not asked as to where the treasury should go when the charter was pulled and it stayed with the now hobby club. The AMLRC started zero and has built a financially sound club on the shoulders of a strong board and a stronger membership. The AMLRC feels that it is now in a position where the facts pertaining to the club break-up can be addressed and we have all documentation to present the true facts.
If any AMLRC members have specific questions that you wish me to answer, i now feel compelled to answer any and all questions and prefer a personal phone call or a face to face meeting.
It is time to put some things to rest. I wish to thank all of the officers and directors who have stuck it out with the AMLRC through this rebuilding process. And I know at times, it has not been easy. There are two sides to every story, now it is time that ours is told.
